Today is my last Real Wedding of 2011! so what better way to celebrate the Christmas Holidays than with a wedding that took place on Christmas Eve! A big thank you to Lucy Williams from My Heart Skipped for sending me in this festive wedding, it’s bright, cheerful, full of snow, love and lots of festive cheer!
I am a huge fan of Lucy’s work, I featured her work HERE and HERE and hope I will have lots more weddings from her next year. She has done a great job on this wedding of Kirsten and Paul it’s full of colour and light and she has really captured the warmth between the couple on such a cold day! Also look out for the photos of the police which ended up playing taxi driver on the day!
Here’s Lucy to tell us a bit more about the day.
I was completely delighted when Kirsten and Paul asked me to photograph their winter wedding. They are a gorgeous couple and it was a second marriage for both of them, so I knew it would be a very special day. It was also really important to them that, however they celebrated, they wanted their three children to really feel like it was their big day too.
They decided to get married on Christmas Eve in a small, intimate ceremony at Tunbridge Wells registry office with just their closest family and friends. Everyone arrived by taxi but because of the snowy weather one taxi didn’t arrive at all, leaving Kirsten’s mum, Paul’s brother and nephew stranded in the town centre. Amazingly, Kirsten’s mum flagged down a passing police car and the lovely officers whizzed them all to the ceremony in the nick of time!
The ceremony was beautiful, emotional and very personal. Lilian and Katie, their daughters read an extract from ‘The Owl and The Pussycat’ and their three year old son Freddie had a very important job as ring bearer, which he did brilliantly!
We all walked back through the snow, stopping for Bride & Groom shots, to The Brewhouse Hotel where Kirsten had completely styled their private dining area with festive baubles, sparkly table pieces, sugar almond flowers, K&P candle holders and ‘words of love’ decorations. All in pink and purple. It looked fabulous.
The celebration at the hotel began in true Christmas style with Christmas crackers and after a delicious Christmas dinner, James the Entertainer kept the children (and adults!) howling with laughter at his magical antics, balloon sword fighting, quizzes, prizes and disco dancing. Platefuls of sweets and chocolate dips finished Kirsten & Paul’s wedding day perfectly!
